followed by the bestselling 2001 book, The Popes Against the Jews: The Vatican’s
Role in the Rise of Modern Anti-Semitism, David Kertzer has become America’s
foremost expert on the modern history of the Vatican’s relations with
the Jews. His latest book, Prisoner of the Vatican, published in November,
2004, has garnered rave reviews and been selected as one of the best books

| Since 1992 David Kertzer has been the Paul Dupee, Jr. University Professor of Social Science at Brown University, where he is also professor of both anthropology and Italian Studies. He had previously been the William Kenan Professor of Anthropology at Bowdoin College, and a visiting faculty member at the Universities of Catania and Bologna in Italy, and both the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales and the Ecole Normale Superieure in Paris. |
